This is the true life story of Keiko Itokazu.
In 1965, Yomitanson, a little girl who was Keiko's neighbor, was killed by a member of the US Army. The soldier who committed the crime was never caught nor tried. After that event, while guiding tourists on bus tours around Okinawa Keiko would say to herself, "As long as the US base is here "Peaceful Okinawa" is just a disguise! War in Okinawa is not over yet".
Her role as a tour bus guide was to glorify war, but after she met a women survivor from the Himeyuri Girl's School who was forced to work as a nurse at the end of World War 2 in Okinawa, she changed and became a "peace bus guide", telling the truth rather than glorifying the war.
In spite of opposition by her bus company and her colleagues, Keiko gradually gained support and empathy and finally became a member of the House of Councillors, an elected representative of Okinawa!
Keiko is now challenging the governor of Okinawa for his seat in the Nov 19, 2006 election.
This is an inspiring story, written in comic book format, and shows us what a strong will can achieve, against all odds!
